Creative X Fi 7-12-06 Drivers

Has anyone had any luck with the new creative drivers released on 7-12-06 for the X Fi series sound cards? I spent a few hours yesterday trying different things; disabled UAP, firewall, windows defender, after f8 at boot up disabled compatibility warning, ran the suggested script given by Creative. Uninstalled after each attempt with reboot <sigh>. Good thing it’s just a hobby! I am going to burn the new drivers on a disk after work today and try all the other stuff and see what happens… . If anyone has had similar problems please share your thoughts/suggestions. Thanks, bjbb

Did you run the setup.exe that gets extracted into the CFR000\Drivers directory? That is the only way I've ever got it working and it worked with the old driver too.

Worked (after a fashion) for me! More details in the post linked below. -Ron

I have the Elite Pro card and in both drivers my external console ceased to function and as I have 7900 Inspire 7.1 speakers I was given the option of 2.1 setup. I uninstalled the Vista drivers completely and installed the latest XP drivers v. 2.07.0004 as the 2.09 drivers released in the beginning of july do not support the Elite Pro card (for some reason :?: ), thus re-enabling EAX, CMSS Surround and my trusty external console. As you have the Extreme Music card, you should get the 2.09 drivers.
